About us

Our vision

At circAlloy, we envision a future where alloy production and recycling are seamlessly integrated into a circular economy, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and fostering sustainable innovation. We aim to train the next generation of alloy scientists, sustainability experts, and professionals to drive this change forward.

Who we are

circAlloy is a collaboration of leading Australian research institutions and industry partners. Our centre operates as a hub for innovative alloy innovation, aiming to position Australia as a global leader in sustainable alloy manufacturing and recycling.

Our objectives

To drive innovation in alloy production and sustainability, our work is guided by four key objectives:

Use less

Developing high-performance alloys that require less raw material, reducing energy consumption and emissions. We aim to develop alloys and structures that meet or exceed performance targets while requiring less mass for the task. This involves creating new alloy compositions and manufacturing processes that optimize material usage and minimize waste.

Demand Less

Innovating alloy and process designs to enable production using lower energy pathways. Our goal is to innovate in alloy and process design to enable alloy products and components to be manufactured via lower energy pathways. This includes exploring alternative energy sources and more efficient production techniques.

Last Longer

Enhancing the durability of alloy components, particularly in extreme environments, to maximize their lifespan and minimize waste. We aim to create alloying solutions that facilitate component longevity, particularly in severe environments. This involves developing alloys that can withstand harsh conditions and reduce the need for frequent replacements.

Re-Use

Designing new alloys, processes, and components that enable easier recycling and reuse, overcoming technological, commercial, and social barriers. This includes creating alloys that are easier to recycle and developing processes that facilitate the reuse of materials.
